Far Out Games

These frames were done for an assignment in School of Motion's Illustration for Motion course. The brief was to plan a 30-second animation promoting a limited edition set of 60s-themed playing cards. The frames had to show someone listening to music, waiting around, and watching TV.

The best part of this project was getting to dig into a bunch of research on the period. The early, mid, and late sixties all had quite different styles, so one challenge I found was just trying to represent the whole decade. I chose a classic mid-century character style to reference the early 60s, a more mod-ish colour palette and fashion choices to reference the mid 60s, and dotted in small cultural references to the late 60s.
